Saturday Night at Chess Cinemas

Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead (2007) is definitely one of the most underrated films of the past five years. It was released during the same year that the incomparable No Country for Old Men was, so I do not think the former was the best film of the year. However, I do think it deserved to be nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards over Juno and Michael Clayton (There Will Be Blood and Atonement were deservingly nominated).

The film features countless strong actors, and an original script bolstered by memorable scenes in this Shakespearean tragedy set in the present where money problems drive people to commit unthinkable acts.

Good movie. Ethan Hawke has been one of my fav’s going back to ‘Gattaca'(1997).
