Above $35, Put ’em on the Glass

[youtube:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H-83BJqRl-s 550 412] _____________

Summoning my best Patrick Bateman voice…

After Sir-Mix-A-Lot’s 1992 number-one, double platinum hit “Baby Got Back,” he more or less drifted into the annals of time as a one-hit wonder. However, he did try to follow up his initial hit about the backside of the female anatomy with an equally as ambitious, yet far less successful song about the front.

Speaking of one-hit wonders, the conventional view is that Garmin will go down as the Sir-Mix-A-Lot in the world of technological innovation, with GPS now found in the smallest of cell phones. However, not only do the technicals look favorable on the chart of GRMN, but the boys over at @wallstreetbean are making a strong case that the company is being undervalued by the market, and the aviation and maritime GPS markets have strong potential. Moreover, the stock still has a pretty heavy short position that is likely looking for a “creative destruction” thesis to take the stock towards bankruptcy. In other words, I am inferring that the shorts here are very stubborn and could get squeezed a long while before they throw in the towel.

Looking at a daily chart below, the $35 level has been key resistance. Note how price is consolidating above all moving averages with a bullish volume pattern, impressive considering the recent volatility in the broad market. No position yet, but GRMN is high up on the watchlist. Above $35, and I think we are looking at a big move higher.

you’re all over the nostalgia buttons the last couple of days.

2nd girl I ever made out with was at the national summer track meet after my sr year of high school… everybody was playing “baby got back” that whole trip. Me and a few dozen strangers from big high schools on some kind of crappy bus, and “baby got back” must have been played a hundred times.

    hell yes!

garmin has a GPS system for private prop planes (and other planes???) that I just learned about from the latest girl in my life, who happens to have a pilots license and a rich grand daddy with some planes. Its like 70k for the system or something wild.

i use the garmin edge for my mountain/road training. pros: wireless. slope calculation, good battery life. negatives: doesn’t give accurate speed readings due to the way gps calculates curves. overall pretty cool device and most riders i know would get another.

Can the Garmin find those ladies sipping their wines? If so, I will buy.
