Texas Cops Shoot Grandfather While Searching Wrong House

Jerry Weller, 72, is dead because Fort Worth police can’t read directions and searched the wrong home for a burglar. Like any citizen protecting their property Weller armed himself with a gun and as a result found himself shot by the rookie cops. Of course the police are blaming everything but their own incompetence for the shooting. Seems “poor lighting” got the best of the cops but was apparently good enough to kill the homeowner. The Blaze has the story:

Police in Fort Worth, Texas, are blaming “poor lighting” after two officers went to the wrong home in search of a possible burglar and ended up shooting a 72-year-old man dead in his garage. The officers, who are both in their first year with Fort Worth PD, were responding to a burglary alarm on May 28 when the tragic mistake occurred.

“Due to poor lighting conditions, and officers attempting to arrive on the scene undetected,” the cops approached the home of Jerry Waller by mistake, according to an affidavit. The house they were actually supposed to go to was across the street.

The two officers, B.B Hanlon and Arpie Hoeppner, were searching around the home with their flashlights when Waller emerged from his home armed with a handgun, investigating who was walking around his property with flashlights.

Police radio transmissions obtained by NBC DFW captured what happened next:

“The guy came out with a gun and wouldn’t put the gun down,’ Officer Hanlon said. ‘He pointed it at Hoeppner, Hoeppner fired,” Hanlon said.

Both of the officers claim they identified themselves as police officers and told Waller to drop his firearm. They claim he instead lifted his firearm and pointed it at them. The police department is claiming the man was shot in self-defense.

However, Waller’s widow, Kathy, told NBC DFW that she was “disgusted” with the “trigger happy” officers.” She said her slain husband grabbed his .38-cal. handgun after seeing lights outside their bedroom and reported hearing yelling moments before Waller was shot dead.

Further, the man’s daughter, Angie, said she was “disturbed by suggestions that police may have felt threatened by a man in his own garage faced with unknown trespassers yielding flashlights.”

Waller’s family is calling for an independent investigation into the incident. The family has also accused the police department of “misrepresenting details of the incident” in media interviews.

Militarization of Local Police Continues – Police State Grows – Freedom Weeps

America is a militarized construct of sociopathic tyranny. The amount of military hardware and software making its way to the local governments should be enough to completely freak people out. Unfortunately nobody notices because they are more worried about what is happening on TV than what is going on in the really real world.

A day doesn’t go by without some story of the DHS, TSA, SWAT or any number of other alphabet soup of government overlords making life miserable for the people. Control. Power. Americans are far more concerned with safety than liberty. So they have allowed the militarization of their country, state, community.

John W. Whitehead writes in an article posted at Lew Rockwell:

This language of fear has given rise to a politics of fear whose only aim is to distract and divide us. A perfect example of this masterful use of the politics of fear to cow the populace is the government’s War on Drugs. Reputedly a response to crime and poverty in inner cities and suburbia, it has been the driving force behind the militarization of the police, at all levels, over the past 40 years. While it has failed to decrease drug use, it has exacerbated social problems by expanding America’s rapidly growing prison system and allowing police carte blanche access to our homes and personal property.

Undeterred by its failure to check drug use, the governmental machine keeps chugging along. Consider that in 2011, half a billion dollars’ worth of military equipment flowed from the military to local police, with another $400 million worth of equipment reaching local police by May 2012. In addition to direct transfers of equipment, the federal government has given local police departments grants totaling $34 billion since 9/11. The 50-person police department in Oxford, Alabama, for example, has acquired $3 million worth of equipment, including M-16s, infrared goggles, and an armored vehicle. All of these new toys lead to specious SWAT team raids that eviscerate the Fourth Amendment, acclimating us to the vision of police in jackboots with assault rifles patrolling our streets.

And if the war on drugs weren’t enough we’ve allowed the government thugs to use the war on terror as another means to separate us from even more of our freedoms and eviscerate the Constitution.

Enter the War on Terror, the logical endpoint of constructing government policy based upon fear and paranoia. Marked by constant surveillance, torture, kidnapping, extrajudicial killing by our government, and the resulting loss of our basic rights, the War on Terror is the culmination of a mentality of fear cultivated by the political elite and willingly accepted by the American people.

A case in point is the creation of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in the aftermath of 9/11. Supposedly tasked with protecting the American homeland from terrorist threats, DHS has become more of a domestic army than a security agency. For example, in March 2012, defense contractor ATK agreed to produce 450 million hollow point rounds to be used by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and its Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) office. DHS placed another order for 750 million rounds of various ammunition in August 2012.

DHS is just one of many aspects of a total militarization of government which has been taking place since the 1980s and rapidly advancing since 9/11. Consider that in August 2012, the Social Security Administration (SSA) placed an order for 174,000 rounds of hollow point ammunition. The SSA plans to send the ammunition to 41 locations throughout the United States, including major cities such as Los Angeles, Detroit, and Philadelphia, among others.

It’s unclear why the SSA would need hollow point bullets, which are designed to explode upon entry into the body, causing massive organ damage. However, it’s worth noting that DHS and SSA have already collaborated in police exercises.

[P]olice exercises are the result of government policies engineered to maximize fear and paranoia. Yet they are only possible because of the acquiescence of the American people to all government programs relating to “security” since 9/11. Despite the fact that violent crime rates are low, and terrorist attacks are radically unlikely (in fact, one is more likely to die in a car wreck or be struck by lightning than be killed by a terrorist), we are seeing government agencies “protecting” us by harassing, arresting, and sometimes killing our friends and neighbors, all in the name of security.

The war on drugs is a failure. The war on terror is a farce. The war on freedom is being won.

Courageous Michigan Police Shoots Homeless Man With a Knife 46 Times

Shooting a homeless man 45 times was just. not. enough. No, the local police thugs of Saginaw, Michigan decided 46 was the right amount to ensure their own safety from a *knife* wielding maniac.

Looks like the police has decided that simple target practice at the range is not good enough training. No, better to use a live target. Milton Hall was that target.

I can only hope that these SIX officers were poorly trained in their duties. Maybe this is what to expect from cops these days. Maybe this is how they are trained. Maybe they didn’t get the word to “cease fire”. No one cares about a homeless guy, right?

Cops seem less inclined to protect and serve than *control* the citizenry.

The Blaze has the sordid details:

Milton Hall, a 49-year-old homeless man, on July 1 was shot 46 times for failing to comply with police instructions. Police say Hall was brandishing some sort of knife and, after a brief standoff in a parking lot in Saginaw, Mich., the six officers had no choice but to open fire.

Right before the shooting, police say Hall called 911 after he had a fight with a convenience store clerk.

“My name is Milton Hall, I just called 911. My name is Milton, and I’m pi**ed off,” you can hear Hall yell in a video obtained by CNN.

An officer tells him to put the knife down and Hall responds: “I ain’t putting sh*t down.”

Shortly after that, the six officers open fire.

Saginaw police felt it was necessary to open fire “because apparently, at this point in time, he was threatening to assault police,” says Saginaw County Prosecutor Michael Thomas.

Why couldn’t the cops wait him out? Tire him out? At some point the guy would probably sit down and fall asleep. Maybe offer him a drink of whiskey and plate of biscuits.

Think maybe some coordination between the *brave* cops would have been in order? Like their sarge telling Barney that he has the shot if the mook comes any closer? One well-placed shot in the shoulder would probably take care of it. Too much to ask. Not enough training…

6 cops. 1 guy. 1 knife. 46 shots. Brilliant police work guys.

Scituate Massechusetts Police Have “Full Military Operation” Over Senior Citizen Community Bonfire

It is really amazing how heavy-handed police forces across this country is becoming. No longer content with simply protecting and serving, apparently they prefer to place their jackboots on the throats of the very people that pay their salaries in increasingly intimidating fashion.

At Humarock Beach in Massachusetts some residents were attempting to enjoy their 4th of July bonfire. The jackboot authority of Scituate decided that it wasn’t safe. So before the bonfire could even be lit the jackboots came out with a bulldozer and State Police to snuff the party.

They arrested a number of people for disorderly conduct. Simply because of a disagreement over their ability to celebrate the 4th of July. See, there was a time when the police would come out and discuss the issue. But now they simply barge right in with authoritarian might.

Boston CBS Local has the story:

Nearly 100 people attended a meeting at the South Humarock Civic Association Clubhouse. At the meeting, some residents went so far as to call Scituate town officials “Fascists,” and say Humarock needs to break away.

The latest aggravation began earlier this month, when residents claim the town was heavy-handed in enforcing a ban on bonfires.

“That was a full military operation… I mean hummers up and down the beach, state police helicopters, horseback, bomb squad, [and] a command post up the center,” said Fred Hayden, who owns a summer home in Humarock…

“Every time they talk to you it’s in a threatening fashion,” long-time resident Emory Langlolies said during Sunday’s meeting.

Langlolies described his experience with law enforcement on the 3rd as overkill. He claims he was playing patriotic music when town officials marched onto his private property and unplugged his stereo. Langlolies says an officer then crushed the plug to keep him from starting the music again.

“They told my wife, ‘we’re going to come back to clean this mess up. We’re going to charge you $300 an hour and we’re going to take our time doing it,’” Langlolies recounted.

“What’s occurring down here is a slow deterioration of our constitutional rights,” said another Humarock resident speaking at the meeting.

Look, maybe there was in fact safety concerns with having a bonfire. But I’m pretty sure it could have been handled in an honorable manner without it becoming a military operation. The police state is expanding.

”Do you know who you’re messing with? This is the Pennsylvania State Police.”

More jackboot thuggery courtesy of the assholes in the Pennsylvania State Police. They beat the shit out of Robert Leone following a “minor hit and run”. The video had been held since 2010 and only now released onto YouTube. Obviously the police justify their disgusting action by saying the suspect was resisting.

You know, cops should be above this sort of behavior. We expect dirtbag criminals to act like this, but not cops. Supposedly the man was tasered. Isn’t that enough to subdue someone? One of the asshole cops broke his wrist punching this guy. The Blaze reports:

In the video, a terrifying scene plays out. Two Pennsylvania State Police cars box in Leone’s vehicl as troopers instruct him to exit. Shortly later, another trooper is seen shooting Leone with a Taser through the sunroof.

The same officer is then seen jumping off the car, kicking Leone as other officers cuff him. The troopers reportedly testified that Leone was fighting and resisting them, but the video doesn’t clearly show him being violent towards police.

Trooper Scott Renfer reportedly broke his hand after delivering “blow after blow” to Leone’s head. The suspect also argues he was repeatedly kicked and Tased while he was off-camera.

In the raw video, one of the state troopers can be heard yelling at Leone: ”Do you know who you’re messing with? This is the Pennsylvania State Police.”

The verbal abuse that ensued is undeniable.

“F***ing pull over means be pulled the f*** over. You’re going to be somebody’s f***ing butt f*** inside,” another officer can be heard yelling.

Towards the end of the video, Leone can be heard moaning in apparent terror as he repeatedly tells officers he is “sorry.”

“Are you f***ing stupid?” a trooper asks.

“I’m sorry,” Leone says again before continuing to moan loudly.

“Shut up you mother f***er,” a different officer shouts back at him.

The lawsuit asserts police did not allow EMS personnel to treat Leone at the scene and refused to let him be transported by ambulance to the hospital. Instead, they hogtied him and threw him in the back of a police car before taking him to get medical attention.

…Joan Leone, Robrt’s mother, told WBNG she was horrified when she spoke to her son for the first time after his arrest.

“They put him on the phone and he starts screaming that he has been beaten within an inch of his life. They tried to kill him through the night. He has been threatened that they are going to kill him and make it look like a suicide or an accident,” she said. “[Leone said] That these guys are crazy and you’ve got to get me out of here, they’ve been beating me. And the minute they said that, they pulled the phone from him and I was disconnected.”

…Author and former Pennsylvania state trooper Larry Hohol has made it a personal mission to get justice for Leone. He was the one who uploaded the video to YouTube and he regularly posts updates on the case on his website. He says Leone’s case reminds him of the infamous Rodney King beating.

Further, roughly 50 protesters took to the streets about month ago in Towanda, Pa., advocating for Leone’s release and punishment for the officers who beat him up.

“There‘s possibly a good chance that there’s a cover up at all levels,” said Mike Kitner, one of the protesters. “We just want some answers, we want somebody to come down and look into it because we’re not getting any.”

Video tape everything. No doubt Leone is a dirtbag. But when did we give license to the people serving us to act like this?

Minneapolis Police Reportedly Beat Man for Carrying Gun – Trouble is He Had a Concealed Carry Permit

Beat the crap out of you first. Ask questions later. Apparently that is how it rolls with the local jackboots in Minnesota. Zachary King allegedly got the shit beat out of him by five cops. Seems King had a gun in his waistband. He was leaving a nightclub, the cops noticed the gun, jumped him and apparently began pummeling his head into the sidewalk. King went to the hospital with a concussion. Sounds awfully legit to stop a citizen from exercising their constitutional rights in Amerika. Trouble is the man had a concealed carry permit. Even as he was trying to pull the license out the cops still kept beating him.

Internal Affairs is investigating as well as a civilian review authority. King was lawfully carrying a gun. Street video shows the beating. Other video of the area will show the attack as well. Hopefully these punk cops are completely fucked. And what is completely maddening is that they still charged King with misdemeanor obstructing the legal process. Most likely an attempt to cover the police’s ass. King’s lawyer is not coping a plea and will be happy to take it to trial. The City of Minneapolis is about to lose a few hundred thousand if not million out of their coffers when this shit goes to civil trial.

The Blaze reports:

A Minneapolis man says he suffered a concussion after receiving a beating from five police officers who attacked him after they noticed he was carrying a gun in his waist band, WCCO-TV in Minnesota reports.

The problem is, Zachary King has a concealed carry permit to lawfully carry the firearm. He argues police still attacked him anyway as he was leaving a local nightclub on Father’s Day night even after he told them he was carrying the permit.

“’I have my conceal and carry, and it’s my gun.’ And soon as I said that he grabbed me by my neck, slammed me against the wall, snatched my gun out the holster, started waving it in the air saying ‘gun, gun, gun,’” King said.

King also told WCCO he said nothing disrespectful to the officers and made no sudden movements that could have warranted the reaction from police.

“Then four other officers just came and slammed me on my face, one of the officers had me by my head just banging it on the sidewalk,” he said.

The permit was eventually discovered but King was reportedly taken to jail anyway.

WCCO has more on the incident:

King says officers eventually went for his back pocket and his wallet to get his weapons permit.

“And he goes like this to show them that I have my card and they stopped beating me,” said King.

King was then taken to the hospital before his last stop, jail.

It should be noted that King was previously arrested and not charged after recording police in April — a video he says showed an abuse of power. Additionally, he was acquitted of manslaughter in 2008 after his pit bull mauled to death his 7-year-old son. King’s attorney, Mike Patton, says his client, then “has zero criminal record.”

“It takes a lot of courage to come forward in this type of situation. He doesn’t want to see this happen to other people,” said Patton.

Still, King was ultimately charged in the most recent incident with misdemeanor obstructing the legal process, according to KAAL-TV in Minnesota.

“There will be no plea and we’ll take the case to trial, if need be,” said Mike Patton, King’s attorney.

Frustrated Dallas Jackboot Confiscates Motorcyclist’s Helmet Cam

Apparently your personal property is not safe from the local law enforcement tyrants in Dallas, TX. In a clear violation of his constitutional rights, Chris Moore was stopped and arrested by Deputy Sheriff James Westbrook. Now you might think that Moore was speeding, or driving reckless. No, he was wearing a helmet cam.

Yep, a helmet camera. Seems the cop wanted to know what was on the camera. So he stopped, detained and ultimately arrested Moore. Did he get a warrant for the camera? Nope. Was Moore engaged in a crime when stopped? Nope. Did he ask nicely? Nope. Just a jackboot DEMANDING compliance of the subject. OR ELSE!

From The Blaze:

Over Memorial Day weekend, Westbrook pulled over rider Chris Moore, who was with a large group of about 50-100 riders. Why? Not for speeding, or failing to yield. Instead, Westbrook noticed Moore was wearing a helmet cam, and he wanted to see what was on it. Naturally, Moore’s camera was rolling, and he picked up the exchange:

MOORE: “Was I doing something wrong? What am I being pulled over for?”

WESTBROOK: “The whole group of you guys.”

MOORE: “No. I was not, individually. How can you pull me over?”

WESTBROOK: “The reason you‘re being pulled over is because I’m gonna take your camera and we’re gonna use it as evidence of the crimes that have been committed by other bikers.”

MOORE: “I have not committed any crimes, and you cannot take my personal property from me, sir.”

WESTBROOK: “That’s fine. Need to see your license and registration.”

Eventually Westbrook returns, and when he does he has a reason:

WESTBROOK: “You’re under arrest for your license plate being obstructed. Place your hands.”

MOORE: “Are you kidding me, dude?”

WESTBROOK: “Place your hands behind your back.”

Westbrook eventually tells Moore to “shut up” and seems to slam him on the hood of the squad car. Moore continues to utter responses in disbelief, and Westbrook goes on to try and remove the helmet cam, which leads to a small altercation. A frustrated Westbrook eventually shoves Moore in the car and slams the door.

After the incident Moore spent eight hours in jail and, as promised from the beginning, the video from his camera was turned over to the gang unit as evidence (it’s unclear how, then, Moore is able to release his own version of the footage).

But the story doesn’t end there. Local station WFAA-TV caught wind of the story and aired it. Now the sheriff’s department has launched an internal investigation over the matter. The department, however, has said that officers that day were being taunted by large groups of riders, and has released video of that (riders also shut down the freeway last year with their antics).

[…]

Though none of that happened to Deputy Westbrook, Shook said the deputy likely felt that afternoon‘s frustration when he pulled over Moore in order to seize Moore’s helmet camera.

“Well, I think in this particular case, you did need a warrant to get that piece of evidence,” Toby Shook, a former Dallas prosecutor, told the station.

He added later, “The Constitution wins out over frustration every time.”

Ironically, the department says no dash cam video exists from Westbrook’s squad car.

Being a cop is a mostly thankless job. Frustration goes with the territory. But we *trust* our public servants like cops to uphold the constitution. Not decide to act like some asshole on TV and circumvent the edicts of the law they swore to uphold.

In Aurora Colorado They Are All Guilty Until Proven Innocent

The moron cops in Aurora, CO justified the means for the ends in violating the rights of 19 car drivers as they searched for a bank robber. They stopped every car at an intersection, pulled every adult out of the car and handcuffed them, detaining them until they were sure they had the burglar in custody. Awesome! So every time a crime is committed everybody gets bracelets until they find the culprit.

Drudge Report via ABC News has the details:

Police in Aurora, Colo., searching for suspected bank robbers stopped every car at an intersection, handcuffed all the adults and searched the cars, one of which they believed was carrying the suspect.

Police said they had received what they called a “reliable” tip that the culprit in an armed robbery at a Wells Fargo bank committed earlier was stopped at the red light.

“We didn’t have a description, didn’t know race or gender or anything, so a split-second decision was made to stop all the cars at that intersection, and search for the armed robber,” Aurora police Officer Frank Fania told ABC News.

Officers barricaded the area, halting 19 cars.

“Cops came in from every direction and just threw their car in front of my car,” Sonya Romero, one of the drivers who was handcuffed, told ABC News affiliate KMGH-TV in Denver.

From there, the police went from car to car, removing the passengers and handcuffing the adults.

“Most of the adults were handcuffed, then were told what was going on and were asked for permission to search the car,” Fania said. “They all granted permission, and once nothing was found in their cars, they were un-handcuffed.”

The search lasted between an hour and a half and two hours, and it wasn’t until the final car was searched that police apprehended the suspect.

“Once officers got to his car, they found evidence that he was who they were looking for,” Fania said. “When they searched the car, they found two loaded firearms.”

The actions of the police have been met with some criticism, but Fania said this was a unique situation that required an unusual response.

“It’s hard to say what normal is in a situation like this when you haven’t dealt with a situation like this,” Fania said. “The result of the whole ordeal is that it paid off. We have arrested and charged a suspect.”

The other people who had been held at the intersection were allowed to leave once the suspect was apprehended.

This is such a ridiculous abuse of power and violation of rights…but the sad thing is the herd just went along with it. But hey, it “paid off”. Precedent has been set in that town thanks to Officer Fania. Detain all of them until they prove their innocence.

Nobody told the cops to go screw themselves when they asked to search their vehicle. “Why shouldn’t they search my car? I have nothing to hide.” The first rule of driving is never, ever, allow the cops search your vehicle. They can get a warrant. It’s time we start making these jackboots act like peace officers instead of corrupt jackboots.
